Student counseling intern
My Approach
I am currently working on getting my MS at UNO in Clinical Mental Health Counseling where I will be graduating in December. During my practicum experience, I had the opportunity to work with individuals from ages 5 to adulthood. With a background in elementary education, I bring a developmental and relational perspective, allowing me to connect meaningfully with clients at all different stages of life. I also have an interest in working with families.
Throughout this internship, I am focused on strengthening my use of evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), play therapy, trauma-focused CBT, and family systems work. I believe that effective counseling is grounded in trust , transparency, and emphasizes meeting clients where they are at, while supporting their growth. I strive to create a safe and inclusive environment where individuals feel safe, heard, respected, and understood.
While being a student has been one of my main priorities the last couple years, I do my best to also make time for the things I love such as going to the park with my husband and dogs, traveling to anywhere with an ocean, spending time with family and friends, going to the gym, and cooking.
